Music Prodigy Choir Pilot 2015-2016

Music Prodigy Choir Pilot Getting Started

All-State Choir Prep Course

Music Prodigy All-State Choir Prep Course

Thank you for your interest in participating in the Music Prodigy Choral Pilot!

You have been selected among a handful of choir groups nationwide to try choral-specific sight reading materials on the most advanced interactive music learning platform in the world. We are excited to welcome you to the Music Prodigy experience.

Overview:

The Pilot consists of choir prep content that we’ve developed as a progressive, self-directed and self-paced preparation for choral sight-reading auditions. The course uses short excerpts taken from actual All-State auditions and uses them to practice and prepare in a way meant to recreate the circumstances of an audition.

The course is not designed to teach how to read music or how to sing beautifully. Students will take quizzes for diagnostic placement and performance excerpts in assessment mode to gain experience in dealing with the pressure of an audition. These quizzes train the eye as well as the voice and are designed to be a realistic representation of actual state auditions. The stages are short to promote quick, enjoyable practice by students.

Who:

  • High School Choir groups

What:

  • There are 10 stages of increasing difficulty that students will work through at their own pace. Teachers do not need to create assignments but are able to monitor daily progress via an automated email or dashboard view. Students should commit at least 10 minutes daily to the exercises and quizzes (although we’ve seen practice time increase in other classrooms as the students embrace the technology and have fun improving). We will ask for both student and teacher feedback via short surveys during and upon completion of the pilot.

Where:

  • Students will access the pilot content from within Music Prodigy. Music Prodigy can be used on any device, anytime, anywhere*.

Why:

  • Choir teachers who are looking for a ready-to-use sight reading practice tool will have the ability to monitor, review and provide feedback on student practice outside of the classroom. Empower choir students with the most technologically advanced practice tool that provides them instantaneous red note/green note feedback and allows them to track their progress when practicing anytime on their chosen device. It will allow them to come to the ensemble better prepared and more confident than ever.

When:

  • The pilot duration will be from Jan 15 to Feb 15 2016.
  • It should take between 4 days or up to 4 weeks to complete, depending on the starting skill level of the student and time spent.
  • Most students can complete in 15 days
